About Drywall Arvada
Who we are
Drywall Arvada is three people and two vans. Wes runs the estimates and most of the finishing, Ruben does texture and is the reason we test on a board every single time, and Danny hangs board and has opinions about starting basements on a Friday.
We have worked Arvada and northwest Jefferson County since 2009. Residential mostly, with enough small commercial tenant finish to keep the steel stud tools sharp. We are not a franchise, we do not have a call centre, and if you ring at half seven in the morning one of us picks up, occasionally while driving, which is why we sometimes call you back.
There is no address on this website, and here is why
We do not have a showroom and there is nothing at our address for a customer to visit, so we publish the towns we cover instead and we come to you. Arvada, Colorado, 80002, and the map on the contact page is centred on the town rather than on a pin.
We would rather say that plainly than invent a suite number. A street address on a contractor's website starts collecting directory listings and citations the moment it exists, and unpicking a wrong one later is genuinely painful.
What we do not do
Asbestos sampling and abatement. Colorado requires sampling by a certified building inspector working for a registered consulting firm, with analysis at an NVLAP-accredited lab, and abatement by a certified General Abatement Contractor. We are none of those things. We will give you names and we will not book a popcorn scrape until the result is in your hand.
Water restoration. If you have category three water or a large loss, you want a restoration firm first and us afterwards.
Structural work. If cracking comes with binding doors, a cracked slab or movement in exterior masonry, we will tell you to get a structural engineer before you spend anything on drywall. We say that on the phone and we say it standing in the room.
Painting beyond priming. We prime repairs and blend zones because unprimed compound flashes through a topcoat. Finish painting we will happily leave to you or to a painter, and we will tell you what sheen the primer will take.
How we quote
Itemised, in writing, with the finish level named and texture matching as its own line. If it is a two-visit job the quote says so. If there is a minimum charge, you hear about it on the phone rather than at the door.
We do not ask for money up front on a normal repair. On a larger job, BBB Colorado's guidance is that you should not pay more than 25 percent of the total before work begins, and that is a good rule to hold every contractor to, including us.
If a job is not worth calling us for, we will say so. There is a real category of drywall work where a handyperson at $60 an hour is the sensible answer and a drywall contractor at $90 is not, and pretending otherwise wastes an afternoon for both of us.
A note from Wes
I started doing this on my own in 2009 after eight years finishing for a production builder in the north metro, where the job was volume and the finish level was whatever survived the walkthrough. I got tired of that.
The thing I would want you to take from this website is not that we are good. Everybody's website says that. It is that you can check anything on here. The prices have sources and dates under them. The asbestos rule is a real state regulation with a number you can look up. The licence question has a phone number attached to it, and it is the city's number, not ours.
I would rather lose a job to someone who quoted better than win one because you could not tell the difference. Ring me and ask me something awkward.

What people say
Water came through the upstairs bathroom floor and took out a chunk of our kitchen ceiling. What I did not expect was being told to wait four days before anything got patched, because the framing was still reading wet. I was annoyed at the time. In hindsight that is obviously the right call, and the ceiling has been fine through a whole winter since. The knockdown match is not perfect if you stand under it and stare, and I was told upfront it would not be, which I appreciated more than a promise would have been worth. 1150 all in including the paint.
Two holes, one afternoon, 240 bucks. No complaints.
We had three companies out for the basement. One never sent the quote. One sent a number with no breakdown at all, which I have learned to treat as a red flag. Wes itemised the hang, the tape and the texture separately and told me the level 4 versus level 5 difference would be about four hundred dollars on our square footage and that in a basement with no big windows it was probably not worth it. He talked me out of the more expensive option, which is not a thing that happens often. Would use again, would also ask them to confirm the start date twice, because the first date moved and I found out by calling.
Popcorn ceiling in a 1972 house. They would not touch it until we had it tested, which felt like an upsell until I read the state rule and found out it is 32 square feet and we were well over. Came back clean, they scraped it in a day and a half. The plastic sheeting job was genuinely impressive, no dust anywhere in the rest of the house.
Fixed the cracks over both doorways and matched the orange peel. You cannot see where they worked.
